Joseph Baldwin
Senior Director of Development, College of Engineering & Applied Science

Joseph is passionate about higher education and its ability to transform lives. He joined the Office of Advancement at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø in the fall of 2023 and serves on the advancement leadership team for the College of Engineering & Applied Science as Senior Director of Development. Most recently, Joseph was based at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as Director of Development for 5+ years in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. He has presented at both district and national CASE conferences on subjects such as goal-setting and authenticity in frontline fundraising. He greatly enjoys building mission-driven philanthropic relationships with generous donors and deeply values integrity, impact, and a human-centered approach in his work. 

Prior to his career in philanthropy, Joseph was a professional classical music conductor and professor at the collegiate level. Growing up in a small town in rural Georgia, donors’ generosity enabled him to attend Northwestern University, where he studied music and the liberal arts, and the University of Michigan for his master’s degree. Joseph lives with his husband Richard, a family physician, in Denver, where they enjoy mountain life with their dog Nilla and being close to family.
