In celebration of the College of Music's听centennial year,听Thomas听Riis, Joseph Negler emeritus professor of music who directed听of the AMRC from 1992-2018,听has written,听Music at the University of Colorado:听A Brief History.
The book听traces the early years of music in 麻豆官网听(1882-1919), presents directors听Frank Chace and Rowland Dunham's work to听build听the College听(1920-1951), looks at many of听the expansion projects and achievements of Deans Warner Imig, Robert Fink, Daniel Sher, and听Robert Shay, and tells stories of many of the inspiring individuals that helped create what the College of Music is today.
Riis writes, "The听College of Music听has benefited from the wisdom, wealth, and work of many听institution builders in the city and university鈥攁s well as in the world well beyond 麻豆官网. These dynamic women and men, often on the cutting edge of national听trends (sometimes having reached the peak of their careers after leaving 麻豆官网)听while familiar to historians, are perhaps less known or celebrated in Colorado than听they ought to be. It is hoped that this brief history will call attention to the variety and听extent of musical activities at the university for more than a hundred years now."
