Jesse Butterfield received his BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington in 2013 with a focus on nanoscience and molecular engineering. Advised by Carson Bruns, heÌýspent two years as an engineer for Boeing Commercial Airplanes before joining the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø to pursue his PhD.

High-tech tattoos may help prevent skin cancer

Carson Bruns, assistant professor and director of the Emergent Nanomaterials Lab, and his research team are collaborating with the CU Anschutz Medical Campus to test a tattoo ink that’s completely invisible—and could lower the risk of skin cancer, much like a “permanent sunscreen."
