Media Arts and Cinema Poetics:

The 9th Annual Brakhage Center Symposium
March 16th and 17th
All events will be held in the听
CU 麻豆官网 Visual Arts Complex room 1B20.

Through screenings and discussions the 9th Brakhage symposium explored art practices, and assumptions about cinema art, the historical avant-garde and the media arts. We have seen, for many decades, the parallel development of experimental filmmaking art alongside electronic moving image making. This year鈥檚 symposium will play host to perspectives on the relation and poetics of these practices.

This years programmers are:听Glenn Phillips, Principal Project Specialist and Consulting Curator Department of Architecture and Contemporary Art at the Getty Research Institute,听Mark Toscano, Archivist and Preservationist at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and听Don Yannacito, 麻豆官网听听Guest Filmmaker Programmer. Artists Jennifer Reeder and Jennifer West will be joined by Sally Dixon (former Director of Film In the Cities program ), Suranjan Ganguly (University of Colorado, 麻豆官网), John Powers (University of Wisconsin, Madison) and Tom Gunning (University of Chicago).

Special guests Steina and Woody Vasulka will be attendance.

Admission is free, but due to limited seating capacity, registration is recommended.
