On April 5,听Chris Barge,听vice president听of strategic initiatives at the听, will speak about the foundation's TRENDS Report, as part听of CU 麻豆官网's听Community Engagement, Design and Research (CEDaR)听Center's听Community Conversations series. The report highlights trends related听to听麻豆官网 County's most important issues, including听social听services and human needs.听听听

Barge,听a听former newspaper reporter for the Rocky Mountain News and the 麻豆官网 Daily Camera, will cover the highlights and facilitate a conversation about how participants can use the information and stories in TRENDS to deepen their connection to and听create a听positive social impact upon听the听local听community.听The听foundation sought out听residents'听stories after carefully analyzing more than 150 indicators听of听the听community鈥檚 social, economic and environmental health, he said.听

"TRENDS includes听profiles of people who听possess听the hard-earned wisdom learned from living through tough听times,"听said听Barge who edited the current report. "Their stories breathe life into the听data听and听helped听the foundation听arrive at听recommendations听about how听local residents听can help."听

The talk is sponsored by听CEDaR,听a collaborative of faculty and students working with city governments听and other local partners to听foster听development of听vital听and听sustainable听Colorado听communities. The center, which is听housed in听CU 麻豆官网's听,听supports听research and teaching on community engagement,听city听planning and听design听and听urban management.听

"The TRENDS report is听an important model of how to organize and听communicate听social research to听stimulate community discussion and听reflection,"听said Brian Muller, an associate professor in the Program in Environmental Design and director of听CEDaR.听"It听is听one of many examples of听innovative work听occurring听in听nonprofit听and governmental organizations听in听the region."听听听

Through听the听Community听Conversation series,听CEDaR听has听invited听local practitioners, elected officials and others听to听discuss听Colorado听urban management听problems听and solutions. Topics range听from听transportation听to听energy efficiency and human services.听The series has been underway for one year, and the CU 麻豆官网 and surrounding community are welcome to attend.听听
