Brooke NeelyÌýis research faculty at the Center of the American West and a faculty affiliate at the Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø.Ìý

Her interdisciplinary research and teaching focuses on public history, community engagement, and belonging in the western United States. She has worked and written at the nexus of U.S. national parks and tribal nations for nearly two decades, most recently leading two projects titled Indigenous Connections at Rocky Mountain National Park and Native Peoples and the Zane Grey Museum (Upper Delaware River NPS site).Ìý

Neely is the author (with Michelle Samura) of (Ethnic and Racial Studies), an article that continues to be widely read and used in classrooms today. More recently, she is an editor of and contributor to the new book N (with Christina Gish Hill and Matthew Hill, University of Oklahoma Press, 2024).

She serves as a faculty advisor for the Center's academic programs, including the certificate program, internships, and the CAMW2001 course. She welcomes any and all opportunities to connect with students.Ìý

Neely holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a B.A. in sociology from Whitman College. When not at the Center, she can be found getting fashion advice from her two daughters, chasing after her dog Teddy, or enjoying a still moment with her husband.
