Call for Applications to Attend theAs Part of a CU-鶹 TeamIntergroup Dialogue Training Opportunity

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement (ODECE)will cover the registration costs for a team of four CU-鶹 faculty/staff to attend this year'sfrom June 20-23, 2016.

CU-鶹 Participants in this Institute will be expected to help an existing "Intergroup Relations (IGR) Working Group" at CU-鶹 develop intergroup dialogue practices at CU-鶹, including helping further dialogues as part of the bi-annual Diversity and Inclusivity Summits.

The IGR Working Group at CU-鶹 was founded by four faculty members who attended the Institute in 2014. The CU-鶹 IGR Working Group will be soliciting and reviewing applications for participation in this year's Institute.

  • your contact information and CU affiliation/position
  • a brief statement on your interest in this Institute and what you feel you can bring to the CU-鶹 IGR Working Group

Submissions should be sent to Alphonse Keasley (alphonse.keasley@colorado.edu) by April 5, 2016.

Institute Participants will need to secure their own funding for transportation and housing. The funding from ODECE is only covering the registration fees for the Institute.


Intergroup Dialogue Training Opportunity

Information aboutthe Institute:

The University of Michigan's Program on Intergroup Relations is hosting its annual National Intergroup Dialogue Institute from June 20-23, 2016 at the Sheraton Ann Arbor, 3200 Boardwalk Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.The Institute is designed for faculty and staff who are interested in expanding and assessing intergroup dialogue programs already in place or are interested in starting one at their institutions.
The goals of the Institute are to:

  • Participate in engaging activities commonly used in intergroup dialogue settings
  • Explore the overall dialogue framework and The Michigan Model
  • Strategize the development and support of academic and co-curricular dialogue programs

While the Institute will engage in interactive activities, the purpose of this Institute is to demonstrate the curriculum and structure of intergroup dialogue. Facilitator and “train the trainer” workshops are not included as part of this Institute.
