The Conference on World Affairs (CWA) is excited to announce our partnership with the CU �鶹�� Climate Innovation Collaboratory and the CU �鶹�� Research & Innovation Office. This partnership provides CWA with support to be able to continue offering free events open to the public, provide student leadership stipends and internships, cover production costs, and speaker-related expenses.

Also, aligning with our focus on climate this year, the Climate Innovation Collaboratory (CIC) is a nationally competitive, convening body that enables climate action with global, real-world impact through technology and market development.

Deloitte and the �鶹�� launched the Climate Innovation Collaboratory to translate cutting-edge climate research and data into meaningful climate solutions for businesses, organizations, government agencies and communities.

The Research & Innovation Office

While our researchers, faculty and staff lead the charge, this transformational work includes increasing collaborations with undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, entrepreneurs, and government and industry partners.

The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) is focused on creating impact by cultivating and supporting collaboration, transformation, and leadership. At the heart of this focus are the diverse contributions of a wide range of world-class experts, working together in new and innovative ways to accelerate ideas through the entire innovation lifecycle, from idea to impact.

Continuing Education Sponsors CWA Livestream for Seventh Consecutive Year

The CU �鶹�� Division of Continuing Education continues its partnership with the Conference on World Affairs (CWA) for the seventh consecutive year to livestream major conference sessions to audiences in �鶹�� and beyond. As we celebrate another year of committed partnership, CWA is grateful to the Division of Continuing Education for their continued support of the conference's efforts to share CWA's important conversations on today's pressing issues with a worldwide audience.

This year's CWA week (April 12-14) will livestream all sessions via the CWA website: www.colorado.edu/cwa. Livestreaming services are provided by the CU �鶹�� OIT department and the Conference on World Affairs.

Throughout its history the CU �鶹�� Division of Continuing Education has utilized innovative technologies to extend educational opportunities to students beyond the CU �鶹�� campus.

"Continuing Education is thrilled to extend access to the Conference on World Affairs’ rich offerings through livestream capabilities for the seventh year in a row. Our mission has always been to bring CU �鶹��’s faculty, courses and research to a larger audience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to fulfill that mission in collaboration with the CWA," said Ted Rockwell, Assistant Dean for Marketing and Communications, Division of Continuing Education.

The Division of Continuing Education

Continuing Education has pioneered new technologies in service to education for over 100 years. They offer online and evening classes, noncredit programming, degree and certificate programs, K-12 science education outreach, and intensive English programs.

Their dedicated advising and enrollment teams are available to help individuals explore the possibilities, whether they want to return to school after a long break, pursue a personal or professional passion, or need a flexible way to meet degree requirements.

For instance, the family’s latest multi-year financial commitment to the �鶹�� Conference on World Affairs (CWA), accompanies many years of volunteering and engagement. Robin Luff has generously served in various volunteer capacities with the CWA since 2015, and is currently the 2020-21 community program vice-chair.

Over this period, Robin has been responsible for helping to recruit a diverse and prestigious set of speakers from across the globe to attend the CWA, but her most distinctive contribution is her relentless commitment to involve CU students and to ensure that CWA programming is of interest to the student body.

The Luff family -- Robin and Kevin and their two sons Kerrick and Aidan (both students at CU �鶹��) -- also support the community through their championing of Watson Institute and Emergency Family Assistance. They have also worked closely with a small group of low-income students to ensure their successes and support their challenges while attending CU.

When asked about the recent decision to make a second, 4-year commitment to the CWA, Robin shared, “We have great enthusiasm for where CWA is going as an organization and I’m most energized to see the CU student involvement growing.”

“With the reality of state funding for higher education being reduced, we want to make sure CWA can hold their own and continue providing a forum for important dialogue about the current, collective issues we face as a community,” said Robin. “CWA is incredibly valuable for the �鶹�� community and the students of the university; we want to see it continue to grow for another 70-plus years.”

For his part, CWA faculty director John Griffin emphasizes the critical contribution to the CWA that the Luff family has made in recent years. “We’re incredibly indebted to the Luffs and especially to Robin for the confidence shown in the CWA and the emotional investment made. Over the last 6 years, Robin cas been absolutely central to making the CWA possible and to helping us thrive.”

Every spring, the CWA presents hundreds of panels and performances to an audience of students and community members featuring diverse experts from across the globe. The program is curated by a vast network of dedicated student and community volunteers and is free and open to the public. CWA has also now added monthly events open to the public, to extend the CWA experience throughout the year.

Throughout its history the CU �鶹�� Division of Continuing Education has utilized innovative technologies to extend educational opportunities to students beyond the CU �鶹�� campus. For a second year in a row, those efforts include providing the resources needed to livestream sessions of the Conference on World Affairs (CWA) to a worldwide audience.

Last year's CWA livestream service reached over 50 countries and served as the educational component of watch parties on the CU Denver campus and at other local schools in the �鶹��/Denver region.

This year's CWA week (April 9-13) will livestream 63 of the nearly 200 sessions open to the public, without charge via the CWA Livestream page that will later be made available online via the CWA YouTube archive page.

The Division of Continuing Education will cover the significant production and staffing costs of livestreaming the CWA this year to audiences in �鶹�� and beyond. Livestreaming services are provided by Loclyz Media Services in conjunction with the CU �鶹�� College of Media, Communication and Information.

"Continuing Education's sponsorship of livestream capabilities at the Conference on World Affairs fits beautifully with our mission of making CU �鶹��’s faculty, courses, programs, and research available to a larger audience," said Ted Rockwell, Director of Marketing and Communications, Division of Continuing Education.
