Dr. Mark Rentschler is an Associate Professor and Sylvia Norviel Cancer Research Faculty Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His team's research in medical devices and surgical robotics is focused on improving the quality of life for patients, by enabling individualized patient care and ultimately less invasive procedures. These efforts include design of novel surgical tools and devices, characterization and modeling of how these tools and devices interact with the patient, and optimization based on these models.

A creator of color-changing tattoo inks and shape-shifting molecular machines, chemist/artist Carson Bruns uses nanoscience to invent new materials and technologies. He has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including the celebrated book The Nature of the Mechanical Bond: From Molecules to Machines, with Nobel Laureate J. Fraser Stoddart. Dr. Bruns is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering with the ATLAS Institute at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø, where he directs the Emergent Nanomaterials Lab.

Kassadi Gabriel is the event coordinator for the Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences Department. She works to coordinate events from start to finish while everyday coming up with new ideas to streamline processes within the department to enable faculty and staff to host events with ease. The new building has brought on a new set of opportunities and she has been working to create policies to help ensure that the department is ready to welcome a multitude of visitors. Kassadi is now gearing up for the building’s grand opening that will be taking place on Monday, August 26th. Kassadi graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Hospitality & Tourism and worked as a wedding coordinator for two years before moving to Â鶹¹ÙÍø, Colorado.
