These are just a few of the ways CU Engineering is leading Research and Innovation Week on campus this year.
Research and Innovation Week 2019 will be held Oct. 14-18 and is hosted by the Research and Innovation Office. The goal is to showcase and demonstrate the broad impact of CU 麻豆官网 research, scholarship and creative works. This is the second year of the program and should be bigger and better than the last.

Digital poster session for undergrads
All week long, we will be highlighting and celebrating undergraduates who are doing research in our college under the hashtag #ResearchBuffs. Any undergrad doing research in our college or across campus can join in by sharing their experience with a photo or video and that tag. At the end of the week, we will randomly select three students to win a $50 Starbucks gift card.
Panel discussion on climate change and remote sensing
When: Poster session and tours start at 4 p.m. Panel听starts at 6 p.m. on听Oct. 14
Where: Aerospace Building, AERO 114 (near the main lobby)
About: Panelists will discuss their work in the field with current technology and consider how the students on campus today will address this issue in the future with new tools. Professor Scott Palo and Associate Professor Evan Thomas (pictured) will represent engineering during the talk. It all starts at 4 p.m. with tours of the new aerospace building every 30 minutes and an ongoing undergraduate research poster session on a variety of topics. Light refreshments will follow the discussion.听

TED-style talks from RIO Faculty Fellows
When: 5:30- 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15

About: The Research & Innovation Office Faculty Fellows will present short TED-style talks in the Gordon Gamm Theater, located at the Dairy Arts Center. Talks will run approximately four minutes each.听Talks will run approximately 4 minutes each and featuresome of CU 麻豆官网's most influential leaders, representing disciplines across the spectrum鈥攆rom ethnic studies to engineering, computer science to cinema studies, biochemistry to anthropology听and more.听Assistant Professor Wil Srubar (pictured)听will be representing engineering at the event.听
Penina Axelrad: Finding Your Way Through Space & Time
When: 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17
Where: Aerospace Building, AERO 120 (near the main lobby)
About: To celebrate her induction into the National Academy of Engineering, Ann and H.J. Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences Professor Penina Axelrad will share highlights from her research group's journey so far, including recent advances in space situational awareness for large-scale CubeSat deployments, GPS multipath modeling and positioning in complex environments, and GPS-based bistatic radar altimetry. Axelrad is the Joseph T. Negler Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences and has been a faculty member since 1992, serving as department chair from 2012-2017.
ATLAS Research Showcase
When: 3:30-5:30 p.m. on听Oct. 18
Where: Roser ATLAS Center, 1125 18th St.
About: Located in the heart of the CU 麻豆官网 campus, ATLAS is an interdisciplinary institute for radical creativity and invention. will feature research projects across a wide array of fields, including smart textiles, biochips, tech tattoos and human-robot interaction. Visitors can tour the building to meet the faculty and students behind these projects and more, exploring hands-on research along the way. Advance registration 听is requested, but not required.

Are you a research Buff? We have tons of stickers to show off your hard work in the lab on your water bottle, computer or cubicle. Staff will be handing out stickers randomly throughout the week, but head to the Engineering Center Lobby from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 15 to get your sticker and learn about research opportunities and how they relate to the new ProReady program.
