Join our College of Engineering ITL Program’s new Colorado Science Technology Engineering and Math (COSTEM) mentorship program to work with 6thÌýand 7thÌýgrade students in Â鶹¹ÙÍø and Longmont ─ providing weekly math and science tutoring, helping students explore hands-on engineering activities, and serving as a mentor for 1-2 small groups.Ìý

COSTEM mentors will also assist with a few K12 visits to the CU campus throughout the year and must complete mandatory training. Most COSTEM mentors will work ~ 5-10 hours weekly, with one 10 hr/wk position available for the lead mentor. In addition to mentoring a small group of students, the lead mentor will also coordinate schedules, organize supplies for both the COSTEM and TeachEngineering after-school engineering clubs and be the primary liaison between CU and the host schools/programs.Ìý

All COSTEM mentor positions require weekly availability from 3-5pm onÌýMondays and/or one other weekday (TBD) every week of the semester. Some evening meetings may be required.ÌýÌýA background check is required, and applicants must beÌýEarn-Learn eligibleÌý(enrolled in College of Engineering and Applied Science and meet theÌýGPA requirement—2.3 undergraduate, 2.7 graduate.)ÌýWork study-eligible students are encouraged to apply!   • Must be an engineering upper-division ($12/hr) or graduate student ($15/hr)
  • Must be reliable and show up every week
  • Work 5-10 hours per week
  • After-school activities between 2:30 – 5pm on various week days
