Dear Infrastructure and Sustainability team,
Thanks to everyone who submitted comments during the Climate Action Plan public comment period last month. Our CAP steering committee is incorporating your thoughtful feedback into a final version that will be released during the Campus Sustainability Summit at the end of this month.
The campus is starting budget conversations based on projections of smaller graduating high school classes in future years. We expect to see lower student enrollment numbers beginning in 2027. I’ve gotten some questions about how this might impact our department budgets. We are preparing now for potential budget impacts. Please know that these financial changes are campuswide and, like other departments, we want to be thoughtful with our next steps. Visit the Transformation and Fiscal Resilience FAQ page for more information.
Finally, I want to let you know that our I&S mission, vision and values are being redeveloped. The VCIS leadership team has been crafting a new mission statement. Once that is complete, we will revise our vision and values accordingly. We are collaborating with leaders from units within I&S to get feedback on this content and we look forward to sharing it with you.
With gratitude,
Chris Ewing, vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability
