The Goldberger Fellowship for summer research and study is granted annually to one or more graduate students at CU听麻豆官网 with plans to study or conduct research abroad or participate in an approved language study or听cultural immersion program related to Jewish Studies. The scholarship committee looks for a strong academic record, demonstrated commitment to the Program in Jewish Studies, well-tailored plans for study or research, and financial need.

Submission Guidelines:

Applications should be submitted through CU 麻豆官网's Scholarship Application in听Buff Portal听by the application deadline and include the following information:

  • CV
  • a statement of purpose of up to 500 words addressing how the study/research abroad, language study, or cultural immersion experience in question supports studies at CU听麻豆官网 and Jewish Studies
  • an estimated budget (including expenses and revenues), and the total financial request, including information on additional funding sources applied for or pending
  • a letter of support from an advisor or other faculty member.
    • In the electronic application, applicants will enter the name and email of their听recommender, who will receive an automated听email request and link to submit their letter. Please request your letter from your recommender听in advance. Recommendation letters听must be received听by the deadline.

Applying for Jewish Studies Scholarships through CU 麻豆官网's Scholarship Application

Students: All applications for Jewish Studies scholarships and fellowships (undergraduate and graduate)听should be submitted through the in Buff Portal.

  • You can access the Scholarship听Application through the Buff Portal by selecting "Scholarships" under the Finances tab.
  • In the Scholarship Application, please search for the name of the Jewish Studies scholarship you wish to apply for.
  • Students applying for Jewish Studies scholarships are听required to submit the General Scholarship Application in order to be eligible for all other university scholarships as well.
  • Please pay attention to specific scholarship deadlines and request any recommendation letters you may need far in advance.

About Rabbi Daniel and Ida Goldberger

Rabbi Daniel and Ida GoldbergerThis fellowship听is generously funded by the Rabbi Daniel and Ida Goldberger Jewish Studies Graduate Fellowships听Fund.听 This fund honors and pays tribute to Rabbi Daniel and Ida听Goldberger. Rabbi Goldberger听served as the rabbi at Beth Joseph Synagogue in east Denver for 20 years and the Hebrew Educational Alliance from 1979 until his retirement in 1994. In addition to being considered one of Denver鈥檚 most respected and best known rabbis, Rabbi听Goldberger was one of the first members of the听Jewish-Catholic interfaith dialogue and actively involved in the Martin Luther King, Jr. marches that took place in Colorado. Rabbi听Goldberger听passed away in 2007鈥� may his memory be a blessing.听 His wife of more than 60 years, Ida Goldberger, a leading educator in her own right, continues his legacy and dedication to听Jewish听learning.
