Julia joined the Weimer group in Fall 2017 after working for a year as a battery intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. As an undergraduate, she worked with Professor Gregory Shaver's group on camless valve actuation for heavy diesel engines. After working in the transportation department at NREL, she switched her focus to energy storage technology and transitioned fields toÌýchemical engineering as a PhD student.Ìý At CU, she works on commercializing theÌýatomic-layer deposition (ALD) process,Ìýwhich involves computational modeling and experimental design of a new vibrating-bed particle reactor.
