Susan Brown
Dr. Susan Brown, senior research associate, instructor of computational Linguistics courses and associate director of the CLASIC program, has been chosen by CU's Graduate School as a winner of the 2021-2022 Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award. Reflecting on this honor, Dr. Brown says, "I love my job, and I'm so glad it has evolved to include mentoring students. Helping them get the most out of their time at CU and watching them develop personally really gives me a lot of joy." Dr. Brown’s teaching, and the mentorship that she provides to graduate students plotting a career in linguistics, computational linguistics and/or data science, is an asset to CU. Her dedication to Linguistics and to the CLASIC program have helped make CU Linguistics one of the best places in the country to study computational and corpus linguistics. Dr. Brown’s students know how lucky they are to have access to her unique constellation of pedagogical and intellectual gifts. The Department of Linguistics congratulates her and feels she is deeply deserving of this recognition.
