The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC)Ìýis responsible for implementing the policy for the CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø community and has been working with various campus partners, including students, staff, and faculty to ensure existing protections continue under the revised policy.

The updated policy will continue to include the ability to fully investigate sexual misconduct (including assault, harassment, and exploitation), intimate partner violence, and stalking allegations occurring on and off campus; provide supportive measures and services to parties; require mandatory reporting by responsible employees; and ensure due process protections for all parties during formal investigations.

Key mandates of the federal requirements that have been integrated into the revised policy include:

  • Changes to definitions and terminology about what is considered prohibited conduct;
  • The separation of roles between decision-makers and sexual misconduct investigators; and
  • The inclusion of live, cross-examination hearings that provide cost-free advisers if needed.

As part of the launch of the updated policy, mandatory training is required for all students, staff, and faculty. The online course will also include an effective bystander intervention skills module. Course access and completion timeline varies for employees and students.
