Ambisonic Augmented Reality Experience
03:00, 1 piece, 20ft x 20ft

“ponder.” is an ambisonic augmented reality experience that allows us to perceive the relationship between sound, image and the space they are consumed in. Different stems of music are played from individual fish that “swim” the sounds around the user.

“ponder.” is an ambisonic augmented reality experience that questions the relationship between sound, vision and the space they are consumed within. The experience consists of reactive visual elements mapped to ambisonic audio sources as well as projections that further blur the line between real and virtual. Different elements of a piece composed by noodle are played from each individual fish, thus giving them the ability to “swim” the sounds around the user. The “swimming” done by the fish are powered by C# code in which each one has a slightly different set of behaviors. Feeding the fish brings all the stems of music together into one place allowing the user to truly perceive sonic movement within the space. The sounds are processed through Google Resonance to emulate real world physics for sonic occlusion and reflections.
