Dr. Fredrickson teaches coursework as well as practicum in SLHS and serves as the Audiology discipline director for the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental (and related) Disabilities (LEND). The LEND program is facilitated through JFK Partners (designated a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD)) and Developmental Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The goal of LEND is to help professionals (and soon-to-be professionals) learn to lead the way in evidence-based interdisciplinary care for children who have hearing loss and other developmental disabilities. AuD students can be short-, medium-, or long-term LEND trainees and take advantage of wonderful opportunities to broaden their knowledge base in this area. She received her BS (1996) and MS (1998) from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and her PhD from Â鶹¹ÙÍø (2010).
Dr. Fredrickson’s primary area of interest is pediatric audiology. She worked with colleagues to develop a clinical tool to assess infants’ abilities to discriminate speech sounds: Visual Reinforcement Infant Speech Discrimination (VRISD). University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado now use this tool regularly as a component of their test battery when working with infants with hearing loss. Other areas of interest include auditory processing assessment and rehabilitation, the use of simulations for clinical teaching and learning, and precepting.
Dr. Fredrickson holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Certificate Holder in Audiology Precepting (CH-AP).
