The study abroad program at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø has awarded $81,100 in scholarship aid to 104 students enrolled in study abroad programs in 1998-99.

Eight CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø students were awarded scholarships to participate in study abroad programs offered through Syracuse University.

The aid comes from the program's auxiliary accounts, alumni donations, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education Diversity Fund and foundation donations.

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic standing and the ability to be a good ambassador for CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø and the United States.

Following are the names of scholarship recipients who received $1,000 or more, their hometown, scholarship name, award amount, location of study and academic major:

Broomfield - Amanda Coles, CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø, $1,000, Rome, Italy, fall 1998, mathematics and classics.

Denver - Daemian McGill, Syracuse University program, $2,500, Strasbourg, France, fall 1998, creative writing and English.

Fort Collins - Nathaniel Miller, CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø, $1,000, Copenhagen, Denmark, fall 1998, engineering physics.

Littleton - Olympia Frascone, CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø, $1,000, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, fall 1998, education and Spanish.

Pueblo - Vincent Biondolillo, Syracuse University program, $3,000, Florence, Italy, fall 1998, molecular, cellular and developmental biology.

Vail - Patrick Stadler, Syracuse University program, $2,600, Florence, Italy, academic year 1998-99, mechanical engineering.
