University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø students interested in mathematics, the natural sciences or engineering are invited to apply to the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program in November.
Interested CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø students need to obtain preliminary applications for the scholarship by contacting J.D. Meiss at 303-492-3731 by Nov.1. Students must submit their preliminary applications by Nov. 15.
In April 1999, the Foundation will award about 300 scholarships to students who will be college juniors or seniors during the 1999-2000 academic year. In order to be considered for an award, students must be nominated by their institution.
To be eligible, a student must be a current full-time sophomore or junior and must be pursuing a baccalaureate degree. They must have a B-average or equivalent, be in the upper fourth of their class and be a U.S. citizen, resident alien or U.S. national who will pursue a career in mathematics, the natural sciences or engineering.
Congress established the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation in 1986, creating an educational scholarship program designed to provide opportunities for U.S. students with excellent academic records and demonstrated interest in and potential for careers in math, science and engineering.
