Three vacant administrative positions have been filled in the division of student affairs at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø, according to Ron Stump, interim vice chancellor for student affairs, pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Elease Robbins, associate ombudsperson at CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø, will serve as interim dean of students starting June 3. The length of her appointment is indefinite. The position became vacant when Stump, associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students, assumed the role of interim vice chancellor for student affairs, following the resignation of Jean Kim.
Ken Wilson was selected as director of the Student Academic Services Center (SASC) after a national search. Wilson served as interim director of the center for more than a year following Rick William's resignation.
Leasa Weimer was chosen as the new director of the Office of Parent Relations effective June 8 and will work primarily with the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Parents Association. Weimer will replace Sara Borst, who is retiring in June after nine years of service with the university.
"We are very pleased to have Elease and Leasa join student affairs and for Ken to now be the permanent director of SASC," Stump said. Each of them bring strong attributes that will help us achieve our mission to continually enhance the student life environment on campus."
Robbins' work will focus on student life issues. She and Stump will share contact with student groups and programs. Her office will be located in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs in Regent Hall.
Robbins has held several positions at CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø since 1981, including university counselor with the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and Counseling and Career Services. She has been in the Ombuds Office since 1992 and is currently working toward a master's degree in Public Administration with emphasis in Human Resource Management and Public Policy at the University of Colorado at Denver.
Wilson has been associated with CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø since 1980. In addition to his recent duties as acting and associate director of SASC he has held positions with the Precollegiate program, American Indian Upward Bound, the University Learning Center and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). He has completed coursework for a doctorate in Public Administration at CU-Denver and holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Teaching, Curriculum and Learning Environments from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a master's degree in teaching from Antioch University.
Weimer was the director of Student Special Events in the Alumni Office at CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø from 1996-99 and worked with the CU Parents Association in 1995. She also has worked with the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Most recently she has been the event coordinator for Up With People. Weimer earned a psychology degree from CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø in 1995.
