Middle school girls who will enter the seventh or eighth grade this fall are invited to attend an Energy Education Workshop offered by the Women in Engineering Program at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø.

The free all-day workshop, funded by the Engineering Information Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy, will engage students in hands-on experiments on energy use, energy production and conservation, with a focus on applications from everyday life. Students will work in teams to solve engineering-related problems and learn how engineering, math and science affect their lives.

The one-day workshop will be offered July 23 and again on Aug. 5. Both workshops will be held in the award-winning Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. A light breakfast and box lunch will be provided.

Enrollment in each workshop will be limited to 30. Pre-registration is requested by July 9 for the July workshop, and by July 23 for the August workshop. Please call (303) 492-0083 for information and registration.

Parents and teachers also are invited to participate if desired. Teachers will receive a $60 stipend for attending.
