More than 750 new and used children's books collected in the "Bagel for a Book" drive, sponsored by the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Office of Community Relations and Moe's Broadway Bagel, will find new homes this week at area schools, hospitals, shelters and education centers.

Moe's Â鶹¹ÙÍø stores gave away free bagels and cream cheese for books donated in the weeklong drive, held from Feb. 28 to March 3, as part of the National Education Association's Read Across America Day on March 2.

A number of books will be donated to local elementary schools participating in the "Books in Homes" program that provides books to more than 1,000 children who qualify for Title 1 government benefits. These schools include Â鶹¹ÙÍø Valley Title 1 elementary schools Aurora 7, Columbine, Emerald, Lafayette, Pioneer, Ryan, Sanchez K-2 and University Hill.

Some books will be distributed to new mothers and children of previous residents at the Mother's House in Â鶹¹ÙÍø, a residence for homeless pregnant women. Â鶹¹ÙÍø Community Hospital will also receive books to be given to children in the emergency room.

Other organizations that will receive books are ECHO House Emergency Shelter, Family Learning Center, San Juan People's Clinic and Kellogg Child Development Center in Â鶹¹ÙÍø; Children's Hospital in Denver; Alternatives to Family Violence Shelter in Commerce City; and Dental Aid in Â鶹¹ÙÍø, Broomfield and Longmont.
