The University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's Leeds School of Business and the NorthStone Group have created a partnership to provide leadership and negotiation courses for the school's executive development program.

Rollie Heath and Adam J. Goodman will teach the first two courses, "Humanizing the Negotiating Process" and "The Six Questions of Leadership" in spring 2005. Goodman and Heath are both partners at the NorthStone Group, a Colorado-based consulting firm specializing in leadership development and strategic decision services.

"This partnership represents a great opportunity to bring together the Leeds School of Business with one of the premier consulting firms in the Rocky Mountain West," said Leeds School of Business Dean Stephen Lawrence. "This is clearly a wonderful opportunity for us to strengthen our executive development offerings for the business community."

The two-day courses will be offered to business executives seeking a better understanding of leadership and negotiation. The program also will strengthen ties between the Colorado business community and the Leeds School of Business, an important consideration for the school's ongoing success, according to Lawrence.

"Today's partnership marks a new opportunity for the School of Business and CU," said Michael Leeds, chairman of the school's advisory committee. "We've worked with the NorthStone Group on other projects, including strategic planning and strengthening our Business Advisory Council. As such, it only made sense to deepen our relationship with NorthStone and take the opportunity to offer these courses."

The leadership courses will be taught by Goodman, who has a doctorate in management, and served as the president and CEO of CU's Leadership Institute for 12 years. He is currently writing a book titled "The Essence of Leadership."

Heath, who was the Democratic nominee for governor of Colorado in 2002, will teach negotiations courses. He spent 17 years with Johns Manville Corp., where he managed businesses of approximately $1 billion in annual revenue and 10,000 employees, and served as president of its international and building materials corporations. He and several partners then founded Ponderosa Industries Inc., a manufacturing company where he was chairman and CEO.

"On behalf of the NorthStone Group, we're really excited about this opportunity," said Goodman. "We've had requests in the past from our clients to provide executive development courses, and the opportunity to do this in partnership with the Leeds School gives us the vehicle to take this work to the next level. Leeds is a premier school and this partnership demonstrates our mutual desire to better serve the business community."

"As someone who's been in business in Colorado for over 30 years, I know that the Leeds School will be a great partner," Heath said. "We're proud at NorthStone to be able to work with the Leeds School as it continues to grow."
