Where: Museum of Natural History, Paleontology Hall
Haskell will give a lecture April 3, which is open to the public, and will return April 6 to speak exclusively with students about his nonfiction writing, the humanities and the sciences.
Haskell has won acclaim for his eloquent writing and deep engagement with the natural world. In this student听event, he will speak personally about听what experiences inspired his interest in the humanities and the sciences;听how human history, ecology听and well-being are intimately intertwined with the lives of forests and trees; and offer advice and encouragement for the next generation of scientists and writers. 听
There will be a book signing immediately following the talk.
Haskell's book,听,听was the recipient of numerous honors including the National Academies' Best Book Award for 2013 and finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction. His second book,听The Songs of Trees,听recently has been awarded the听听for distinguished natural history writing. Previous winners include Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold听and other amazing voices.
