Advanced as an important driver in theÌýAcademic Futures report, interdisciplinary teaching, research, scholarship and creative work have long been expressed values of the CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø faculty, strong desires of generations of CU students and exciting challenges to staff.
On Oct. 1, theÌýInterdisciplinary Teaching, Research and Creative Work Committee, chaired by Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Jim White, will deliver its report to the campus for a 30-day review and input period.
A campus response will be compiled based on written input and town halls that will occur throughout October. The goal is to have the response from campus and the final report delivered to the provost by early December.
The adoption of interdisciplinarity as a core value and organizing principle at CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø has the potential to revolutionize research, scholarship, creative work and teaching.
It can empower faculty to form partnerships for each of these activities across disciplines and academic structures. The energy, creativity and innovation that can be unleashed in this process will have enormous benefits for students, faculty and the public good.
