As we come back together after a tough day on campus, I again extend my appreciation to all of our community members who stepped up and made a difference in each other’s lives yesterday.

Yesterday was quite scary and unsettling for many students and the entire CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø community. During times like this it is important to pay attention to your emotional well-being.

Today we experienced a threatening situation in the Folsom Field Champions Center. Later in the day, a number of calls were made to police dispatch regarding unconfirmed reports of an active threat at three separate locations. I thank everyone who responded quickly and calmly to the CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø Alert regarding today’s incident.

Ambitious goals can become a reality when backed by a supportive community and an encouraging environment. For Joey Arora, a CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø student who studied business, his twofold goal of starting his own company and joining the U.S. Air Force was made possible by his internal drive and a network of supporters.

Faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences have voted to revise the college’s core curriculum for the first time since 1988, a faculty committee announced Tuesday. The move will improve the educational experience for undergraduates in the college, proponents say.

The Colorado Buffaloes will host UCLA at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 for a game to be nationally televised on FS1.

A Q & A with Gia Voeltz — named to the first cohort of Faculty Scholars by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Simons Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — gives insight into her research focusing on how organelles inside human cells get their shapes.

Volunteering, in addition to giving back to the community, exposes students to new perspectives and helps them develop new skills and interests outside of what they study.
