CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø marks 100 years of Homecoming

Not everybody or everything makes it to 100, but the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Homecoming is about to reach that centennial mark. On Nov. 7, 1914, CU took on Utah to win 33-0 in the first Homecoming featuring an intercollegiate matchup. This year, from Oct. 22 to 25, CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø will host hundreds of guests at dozens of major events. In addition to the traditional football game and parade, the celebration will include a concert, an alumni lecture series, affinity reunions and college and school gatherings.

NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft has provided scientists their first look at a storm of energetic solar particles at Mars and produced unprecedented ultraviolet images of the tenuous oxygen, hydrogen and carbon coronas surrounding the Red Planet, said Â鶹¹ÙÍø Professor Bruce Jakosky, the mission’s principal investigator.

Past research shows physical beauty can be detrimental to women applying for masculine jobs. But belles can put the brakes on discrimination by acknowledging their looks during an interview, according to a new study led by the Â鶹¹ÙÍø. The paper, published in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes , is the first to provide a method for curtailing such prejudice against attractive women.

Colorado business confidence dips but remains positive to finish year, says CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Leeds School

The confidence of Colorado business leaders continues to be positive heading into the fourth quarter and has moderately increased compared with a year ago, according to the most recent Leeds Business Confidence Index (LBCI) released today by the Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Leeds School of Business. It’s not as bullish, however, as it was a quarter ago with slight drops across the board resulting in a current overall reading of 59.5, down from 61.2 heading into the third quarter of 2014.

Syrian-American musician brings message of peace to Â鶹¹ÙÍø
