Startup company Gogy Inc. and the University of Colorado have executed an exclusive licensing agreement that will enable the company to commercialize the Pedago.gy interactive teaching platform developed at CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s Leeds School of Business. Pedago.gy is a Web application that creates a space for educators and students to engage in additional interaction and dialogue beyond the classroom. It provides a means whereby students and instructors can approach a topic in a collaborative fashion, rather than the typical expert-learner model found in most classrooms.

Engineering students at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø will host the annual College Egg Drop on April 19 as part of their annual celebration of Engineering Days. The egg drop, which starts at 1 p.m. on the west side of the Engineering Center, challenges students to create a contraption that will protect a raw egg when dropped from the eighth floor of the Engineering Center’s office tower.

A revitalization project for downtown Houston combining residential, retail and entrepreneurial business elements won $50,000 in a national urban design competition for a joint student team from the Â鶹¹ÙÍø and Harvard University.

JILA, a joint institute of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø and the National Institute of Standards and Technology that has produced three Nobel Prize winners since 2001, has opened a new wing with advanced laboratories for its world-renowned science.

Patrick Mason, a professor of voice at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø’s College of Music, has been selected to receive the 2012 Hazel Barnes Prize. The prize is the highest faculty recognition for teaching and research awarded by the university. Mason will receive an engraved university medal and $20,000, the largest single faculty award funded by CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø. He will be recognized at spring commencement on May 11 and at a reception in his honor in the fall.

College In Colorado news release DENVER - The University of Colorado has teamed up with Denver-based Crowley Foundation to bring 38 high school students from seven Metro Denver high schools to the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø campus on April 6 as part of College Friday.
