CU School Of Law To Graduate 167 Students

Three important events will mark the graduation of 167 students on May 11 at the University of Colorado School of Law commencement. The endowment of the J.J. Witt Memorial Law Scholarship will be announced; Gail Klapper will receive the Honorary Order of the Coif; and Jim Hightower, a man profiled on the CBS news show "60 Minutes" and listed by the National Journal as one of the 150 individuals "who make a difference," will give the keynote address.

Latino Youth Conference Held At CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø May 2

More than 300 Chicano, Latino and black high school students from the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Valley School District will gather at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø for the fourth annual Latino Youth Conference on Wednesday, May 2. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Memorial Center. Participating schools include Arapahoe Ridge, Â鶹¹ÙÍø High, Broomfield High, Centaurus High, Fairview High, Monarch High, Nederland High and New Vista High.

Vietnam's Integration Into Global Market Topic Of CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Lecture

University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø history Professor Robert Schulzinger will give a public talk Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m., about the opportunities and challenges of Vietnam's integration into the global market. Schulzinger's talk, "The United States and Vietnam Today: Globalization on Trial," is free and open to the public and is part of the Chancellor's Community Lecture Series. The talk will be in the Chapel at The Academy building at 970 Aurora Ave. in Â鶹¹ÙÍø.

NBC Sports Reporter Jim Gray To Address Journalism School Graduates On May 10 At CU

Clay Timon, CEO of Landor Associates and an alumnus of the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø College of Business, will discuss the advertising industry and his experiences in business.

Local Organizations To Receive More Than 1,350 Books From "Bagel For A Book" Drive

Editors: Photographers are welcome to photograph the delivery of books to the Family Learning Center on Wednesday, April 25, at 10 a.m. More than 1,350 new and used children's books collected in the "Bagel for a Book" drive, sponsored by the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Office of Community Affairs and Moe's Broadway Bagel, will find new homes this week at area schools, hospitals, shelters and education centers.

Drainage Work Begins At CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø South

The University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø has completed the bidding process for undertaking reclamation and drainage work on the CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø South property. The estimated cost of the work to be performed is $250,000. The project will involve moving poorly drained water through an underground pipe system into existing ponds, minor re-grading of low spots, cleaning of an irrigation lateral and re-seeding portions of the site. The improvements will alleviate pooling that has occurred as a result of mining reclamation on the site.

Cinco De Mayo Celebration April 30

The United Mexican American Students organization at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø will present its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on Monday, April 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Forum Room at the University Memorial Center. This year's celebration, "Aztlan Ahuac: Going Back to Where We Came From," will feature keynote speakers Patrisia Gonzales and Robert Rodriguez, syndicated columnists for the Column of the Americas. Folklorico dancers "Sabor Latino" and Mariachi "La Musica de Agustin Cordova" are scheduled to perform.
