A free business leadership program for high school juniors from diverse backgrounds is being hosted by CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍøÂ’s College of Business in June. Applications are being accepted through April 14. The program, which provides students with a business background and computer skills, runs from June 11 through June 17 on the Â鶹¹ÙÍø campus. To qualify, students must be African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, American Indian or multiracial/biracial.

RANKED 16th BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT The CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø MBA entrepreneurship program was ranked 16th by U.S. News and World Report in its April 3 issue of the nationÂ’s top graduate school programs. "This is an exceptional honor and gratifying recognition of our dynamic programs," said College of Business Dean Steven Manaster. "Our high caliber students and outstanding faculty drive the innovative approach so central to our activities.

In the near future, consumers are expected to benefit from a "one-stop shopping" concept created by competition among telecommunications companies working to meet requirements of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. This change will be one of the main topics discussed at the University of Colorado School of Law forum titled "Telecommunications After Bell Entry: Towards a New Regulatory Regime and One Stop Shopping," to be held April 13 starting at 3:15 p.m. in the Fleming Law Building on the Â鶹¹ÙÍø campus.

The Â鶹¹ÙÍø Faculty Assembly and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs are sponsoring a public forum on a proposed code of conduct for CU-licensed apparel manufacturers on April 6. Sessions will be held from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the Dalton Trumbo Fountain Court of the University Memorial Center and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the UMC Grill. Last month the BFA executive committee approved a resolution from its student affairs committee to endorse a set of human rights principles with which CU licensees should comply.

CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø professor Emeritus Reg Saner will present "Adam's Navel: The Politics and Poetics of Belief" on Wednesday, April 12, as part of the new "Campus Lecture Series" scheduled through May. The presentation, at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Building, room 250, will review episodes from ancient times to the present in which religion and science have been at odds.

Throughout April, a number of prominent national lesbian, gay and bisexual artists of color will be featured as part of "Art Activism of a Queer Color: The Third Annual CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Queer Arts Festival."

Robert Maust, director of the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø alcohol awareness program "A Matter of Degree," has been named an Associate of the Alcohol and other Drug Prevention program of The Higher Education Center. The Higher Education Center is a program of the U.S. Department of Education.

Three library buildings at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø are now equipped with "Team Technology Rooms" where students can use electronic equipment and computer software to prepare class presentations and projects. The CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Libraries teamed up with Information Technology Services on campus to convert nine group study rooms in Norlin Library, the William M. White Business Library and the L.H. Gemill Engineering Library into Team Technology Rooms.

Scientists have detected changes in the rotation rates of violent, charged gases some 130,000 miles beneath the sunÂ’s surface, a finding that may help them better understand the physical dynamics of the 11-year solar cycle that affects Earth.

Six graduate programs at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø were cited for excellence in a limited number of disciplines ranked by U.S. News and World Report magazine in March 2000. In specialty programs, CUÂ’s Program of Environmental Law was ranked in a tie for 5th place with Tulane University, up from 7th in 1999. Overall, CUÂ’s Law School was ranked 45th in the nation out of 179 law schools, the same as its 1999 ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
