Fine Arts Instructor Speaks At CU This Summer's Photo Exhibit

University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø fine arts instructor Patrick Frank will lecture June 28 on the Paul Strand photography exhibit on display at the Cortez CU Center as part of the CU This Summer outreach program. A reception at the center will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by FrankÂ’s talk. The exhibit, “The Mexican Portfolio,” began May 24 and continues through Sept. 1 in the Cortez CU Center, at 25 N. Market St. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

Career And Disability Services Join Together For Nace/Chevron Award

The offices of Disability Services and Career Services at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø were the first runners-up for the Unique Career Fair Concept Merits NACE/Chevron Award for their project entry titled “Career Program for Students with Disabilities.” The two offices produced the project together to introduce students with disabilities to various employers.

Prominent CU-Â鶹¹ÙÍø Archaeologist Joe Ben Wheat Dies In Denver At 81

Joe Ben Wheat, curator emeritus of the University of Colorado Museum and an internationally known archaeologist, died today at St. Anthony Hospital South in Denver after a short illness. He was 81. Wheat, of Â鶹¹ÙÍø, had worked at the University of Colorado Museum from 1953 until his retirement in 1986. He was a former president of the Society for American Archaeology. Wheat was an internationally known scholar and a prolific publisher of scholarly papers.

CU Professor Wins Award From Office Of Naval Research

Professor Lucy Pao of the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø has received an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award for research that may have applications in air traffic control, robotics and several other fields.

NEWS TIP SHEET University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø economics Professor Keith Maskus will serve as a resource to reporters covering the Denver Summit of the Eight meetings June 20-22. His areas of expertise are international trade, trade theory and U.S. trade policy. Maskus served a year-long appointment in 1986-87 as a special adviser to the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. He conducted trade studies and advised upper-level department officials.

The Alumni Association of the University of Colorado at Â鶹¹ÙÍø will hold Reunion Fest '97 the weekend of June 20-22. About 400 alumni and families are expected to attend the weekend of events in Â鶹¹ÙÍø for members of the graduating classes of 1987, 1982, 1977, 1972, 1967, 1962, 1957 and 1952.
