CESR Undergraduate Students


The Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility (CESR) is launching a “Sustainability Scholars” program in 2024-2025. The inaugural program will support four students with a financial stipend of up to $2,000 for the pursuit of “transformative educational opportunities in sustainability and social impact.”

Qualifications

Enrolled as a Leeds undergraduate student in the Social Responsibility and Ethics (SRE) certificate program or the Social Responsibility and Sustainability (SRS) emphasis.

  • A rising Junior or Senior
  • Apply no later than September 16th

Eligibility

Students are considered for this award based on a comprehensive review of their academic and extracurricular achievements. CESR encourages all students with a unique and diverse perspective to apply. This is a competitive award and to be considered students should demonstrate the following:

  • Student club membership and involvement in leadership initiatives on or off campus
  • Active participation in CESR programs
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability and/ or social impact
  • A competitive GPA

Program Details

Awardees will work with CESR’s Program Manager to build and execute a plan of action to best use their stipend. A student has up to $2,000 to pay for a certification or an experiential learning opportunity. Here are a few options students may choose. This list is NOT exhaustive of what a student may do with their stipend. Students should be prepared to present their own ideas.

All awardees are expected to attend periodic one-on-one meetings with the Program Manager. Scholars agree to serve as informal ambassadors for CESR programs and may have the opportunity to be featured in CESR marketing materials.
