August 2024

This July I had the privilege of spending two weeks in London at the Hazel Barnes Flat. For those of you who have been able to stay at the flat and experience its central location and wonderful amenities, you know how grateful I was for the experience. I am also so appreciative of the foresight and generosity of and , whose posthumous gifts to the university allowed the purchase of this flat in London for arts and humanities scholars to use in pursuit of their research. They understood that they could use their legacy gift to enhance the scholarship and arts for future generations at CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø.

As director of the Center for Humanities & the Arts I read the reports of those who have stayed in the Hazel Barnes Flat—just as I can see the reports for everyone, grad student and faculty, who have received a grant, award, fellowship and share how this financial support has enabled them to do their vital research and produce amazing products of arts and/or humanities. It’s gratifying to read these reports—to see just how strong the arts and humanities are at CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø. And it’s heartening to know that CHA is fulfilling its mission of supporting and promoting humanities and arts at CU Â鶹¹ÙÍø and beyond.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Ho
