Premier period-instrument ensemble will play its first 麻豆官网 concert Feb. 13听
BOULDER, Colo. 鈥� When the Venice Baroque Orchestra, one of the world鈥檚 premier period-instrument ensembles, takes the stage at Macky Auditorium on the CU听麻豆官网 campus Feb. 13, audiences can expect a full course of Vivaldi, followed by a feast of Boccherini听
Cellist Mario Brunello will join the orchestra for the 麻豆官网 concert, one of just two mid-continent stops on the ensemble鈥檚 2014 American tour, and its first-ever in 麻豆官网. Brunello has played with some of the world鈥檚 most important orchestras, from the London Philharmonic to the Philadelphia Orchestra.
The Venice Baroque Orchestra was founded in 1997 by scholar and harpsichordist Andra Marcon and has garnered both critical and popular acclaim while performing in North America, Europe, South America and Asia. The ensemble鈥檚 discography includes the world premiere recording of 鈥淎ndromeda Liberata鈥� for Deutsche Grammophon, Metastasio鈥檚 鈥淟鈥橭limpiade鈥� and Vivaldi鈥檚 鈥淭he Four Seasons.鈥�
